MUFA Minutes 5/17/05

Present: KJ, Robin, Matt, Sue Kris, Brad

  1. 3 Strikes and You're Out policy
    • discussed at length, minor changes made
    • Sue will make changes, submit revised version to Matt for publication online
  2. Team feedback
    • Matt will make a web form for feedback after each game. Teams will rank their opponent's spirit on a 1 to 5 scale.
    • this form will be used to determine the Spirit Award winner for summer league
    • the form will also contain a comments box for captains to leave comments about the games (these comments will not be made public. The comments that are submitted when reporting the game score ARE made public).
  3. Field/Funding
    • Jason Keaton found what might be a good resource for us if the rugby people and mufa join forces.
    • Oscar Rennebohm established the Rennebohm Foundation in 1949 to support education, research, health care and RECREATION in the Madison metropolitan area.
    • Steven F. Skolaski is the Oscar Rennebohm Foundation president
  4. Rugby
    • the local rugby organization has a complex on 12/18, part of a bar
    • they rent several fields from the city
    • want to build a sports complex
  5. Get the message out - work toward possibly getting our own fields
    • Call a general public MUFA meeting, form a committee to find some land
    • Brad will write-up and submit to Matt for web publication
    • Includes maintenance agreements with cities
    • Sue will talk to Fitchburg
    • Will survey the MUFA public for opinions at a later time
  6. The board approved the donation of 500$ to the charity for Dick and Jane 8.5
  7. Juniors
    • Mudbath - 16 boys, 7 girls teams
    • VC retailer came and sold shirts etc.
    • Boys Spring League: ~100 people in the stands for West v Memorial. West won 11-9.
    • Have 2 UPA -certified coaches in town
    • Jason Keaton and Katie Wilson volunteered to coach the women's B team
    • Jinny Eun was going to start a women's team at West - they never got back to her
    • State Championships May 30 @ Memorial, 10-5pm, ~ 6 teams
  8. 8. Women's clinic
    • 21 women signed a participation sheet, approx. 40 women showed up from 10 -1pm
    • Bella Donna women helped teach
    • Carrie Loushin Neuman ran the clinic with organizational efforts from Kris
