Master’s League

Master’s League 2008:

Season is over! The 2008 year was a mild success. We had close to 50 people sign-up. Most nights had a decent game.

Anyway, We will be playing pick-up on saturdays at 3:00 at Brittingham. All ages are welcome. It will start on August 16th and continue until people stop showing up.

If Master’s Summer League 2009 is to happen, we need ideas to improve attendance. We may also be looking for new organizers. Please make any suggestions on mufa chat.

Mission:
1) To encourage older players (30 and up) to continue playing or begin to play.

2) To create a league that is most importantly fun, convenient, competitive, and reasonably flexible for individuals.

Description:
This newest MUFA League is a compilation of many ideas considered throughout the years.

When is it played?
The master’s league 2008 will be played on Fridays during the summer. We will be asking people to arrive at the field between 5:45 and 6:00PM. Games will last until approximately 8:00pm.

Who can join?
1) All skill levels welcome.

2) Anyone over the age of 30. This year, there will be a “baggage hardship clause” for people 30 or over that have partners that may be under 30. You will need to send an e-mail to mufamasterleague@hotmail.com and state your situation. If there is any abuse of this rule (i.e. I’m going to get my buddy Lightning McAss to play with me so we can run all over these old farts) you will be forced to play on the receiving end of Cower every Friday and forced to drink the crappiest beer we can find.

What is the format?
This will be unlike most other Mufa leagues because it will be essentially a hat style tournament every Friday. We will create new teams EVERY Friday that will play together for the whole night, but only that night. The following week we will create new teams. Team selection will be done based on the number of wins individuals have. Team selection requires that everyone will have an OFFICIAL MUFA ID card (index card with your name on it… it will be supplied). IMPORTANT-After every game you win you will record the win on your card (losses and tie games are not recorded). Every week new teams will be selected using the number of wins on your ID card. The idea is that we will pair those people with the most wins with the people with the least wins while creating teams as evenly as possible,
In addition, you will be able to baggage with one person every week. You will be able to change your baggage from week to week if you want.
Most likely we will set up four teams and play three short games (up to 8 points) every night. This is subject to change depending on the level of participation. We may create more teams but will probably attempt to not go below four teams unless it is unavoidable.
We will set teams up to be as coed as possible, but gender requirements on the field may change (or be non-existent) depending on participation and desire of the group.
